This is actually a tough question to answer. Ever hear the saying,
“don’t meet your heroes?” lol
Characters that I
like aren’t necessarily the type of people I’d want to hang out
with. And, come to think of it, I can’t say they’d enjoy hanging
out with me, either. Figuring out who might make this hypothetical
interaction a two-way street was more challenging the longer I played
around with the idea.
Do you pick someone
who is most like yourself? If so, what’s the point? And on the
other hand, someone who is the total opposite won’t have much in
common with you. A love interest? You’ll probably have a better
chance at a longer conversation but be prepared to maybe not like
what you hear.
Would it be better
to pick an antagonist? Someone to play against? It might be fun to
defeat your favorite villain. And you can probably also stand losing
to them if things don’t go your way.
The reality is that
my answer probably lies in the role of a guest actor, and I’ll
undoubtedly come back at some point to update my response. If it has
to be a recurring character, the only one that keeps coming to mind
is Sam Axe from ‘Burn Notice,’ as played by Bruce Campbell.
Great post.
