Stop making duplicate groups

Send a message to An and ask for them to work towards enacting a filter to decline creation of a new group if it's the same as another that's already made. Perhaps even offering a link to the already created group as a result instead.

Its not an issue that needs official site moderation, its mostly just kids who've never used Myspace and have no idea what to do on the site

Not saying moderation is needed, only that the site design could use a restriction on making groups that have the same name as others. To avoid copy cats.

There's always going to be different types of groups to form up with similar or same objectives. Report them to An, they'll get it straightened out in due time.
