So as you all know, traveling during this whole COVID thing can be a challenge. Some countries are not allowing people in at all, some require visitors to be vaccinated, while some others require a 10+ day quarantine on arrival.

Buttttt guess what? I'm here to help us all out. Especially those that aren't vaccinated or don't have enough PTO days to quarantine in another country lol. All countries are requiring that you get a COVID test before or at arrival.

Let us know (in the comments) if you're interested in going to any of these countries! I'd love to hear from you. I'm going to Brazil in March, no vaccine required :)

Here are some countries that allow you to enter without being vaccinated or with just one dose of the vaccine:

1. Mexico

Mexico is currently open to unvaccinated travelers. The nation has taken a relaxed approach to border restrictions since 2020. As a result, travelers from various nations can enter without requiring proof of vaccination.

What’s more, travelers don’t need to provide evidence of a negative PCR test before arrival, which is something that most nations require. Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas are all popular Mexican destinations this winter.

2. The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is home to gorgeous tropical white-sand beaches and superb Spanish colonial architecture. However, it’s also open to unvaccinated travelers. Travelers also don’t need to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival.

If you’re looking for a relaxing winter break without the hassle of confusing entry restrictions, this is an excellent option. The best destinations in the Dominican Republic include Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, and Puerto Plata.

3. Costa Rica

Costa Rica — a nation of magnificent surfing, rainforests, and luxury resorts — is also open to unvaccinated travelers this winter. Better still, the nation doesn’t require evidence of a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival.

The only requirement for unvaccinated travelers is mandatory travel insurance. You’ll need evidence of international travel insurance or Costa Rican travel insurance that covers accommodation costs in the event of quarantine.

4. Colombia

Colombia is a nation of excellent nature, vibrant cities, and fascinating Spanish colonial history. It’s also a nation that allows unvaccinated travelers to enter the country. Travelers don’t need to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before arrival either.

However, if you’ve been inside India in the previous 14 days, you’re not currently allowed to enter Colombia. Bogata, the nation’s capital city, is where many first-timers to the country land, but we suggest checking out Medellin. Travel Off Path recently spent 3-weeks in Medellin and found it very affordable, trendy, and the weather can’t be beat.

5. Croatia

Do you fancy a European winter vacation? As Europe increases restrictions from non-EU nations following the Delta variant — Croatia has kept its travel restrictions relatively low. The nation allows unvaccinated travelers to enter the country if they have evidence of a negative PCR test.

Alternatively, unvaccinated travelers can take a rapid-antigen test within 48 hours of arrival in Croatia. The rapid antigen test must meet EU requirements.

6. Cyprus

The gorgeous Mediterranian island of Cyrpus is home to the stunning coastline, white-sand beaches, and amazing weather throughout the year. Unvaccinated travelers from the United States can enter Cyrpus if they take a negative COVID-19 test on arrival at their own cost.

The requirement does not apply to travelers under 11. Furthermore, travelers from the United States are not required to quarantine on arrival regardless of their vaccination status.

7. The U.A.E

The U.A.E — home to the popular cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi — is open to unvaccinated travelers. However, travel restrictions within the country vary between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

You should check for possible quarantine restrictions, documentation, and restrictions depending on the airport you arrive at. Nonetheless, the nation offers an excellent sunny winter break.

A 72-hour negative PCR test is required for entry.

8. Jamaica

Jamaica is a wonderfully beautiful island in the Caribbean. What’s more, the island also allows unvaccinated tourists to enter for a care-free vacation. However, travelers must not have been to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Paraguay, Peru, or Trinidad and Tobago in the previous 14 days.

All passengers entering Jamaica will need to provide a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 3-days before arrival.

Tourists may need to take a COVID-19 test on arrival if they present any symptoms at all. If travelers have to take a test, travelers will have to wait in their hotel room until the test result comes back.

9. Russia (Excluding Canadians)

If you’ve ever thought about exploring Russia and its fascinating Soviet history, it’s a superb destination — albeit a cold one — to visit this winter. Unvaccinated travelers from the USA, UK and many other countries can enter Russia if they provide evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival in Russia.

Furthermore, the negative PCR test must be in English or Russian, and travelers must fill out the COVID-19 testing form.

10. Brazil

Brazil offers a fantastic exotic winter destination for U.S travelers this winter because of its position in the Southern Hemisphere. Unvaccinated travelers can enter Brazil via air, but land and sea borders remain shut.

Travelers must also present evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival. Alternatively, travelers can enter Brazil if they have evidence of a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of arrival.

11. Romania

Romania is an excellent destination to visit this winter if you’re looking for a budget destination with incredible gothic architecture. Unvaccinated travelers can enter Romania, but they must undergo a 14-day quarantine period.

However, travelers can reduce their quarantine down to 10 days if they provide a negative PCR test on the 10th day.

Proof of recent recovery (14-180 days) will also exempt the traveler from quarantine.

12. Turkey

Turkey, a nation home to endless excellent cities, national parks, and gorgeous beaches, is open to unvaccinated tourists this winter. However, unvaccinated travelers must provide evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival.

Alternatively, unvaccinated travelers can provide evidence of a negative antigen test taken within 48 hours of arrival. The requirement does not apply to travelers under 12.

13. Egypt

If you’ve got a fascination with Ancient Egyptian history — and nobody would blame you — you’ll love visiting Egypt this winter. Furthermore, unvaccinated travelers can enter the country, but they must provide evidence of a negative PCR test taken with 96 hours of arrival.

14. South Africa

South Africa is open to unvaccinated tourists this winter. In turn, that provides a fantastic sunny escape in the Southern Hemisphere. Travelers can enter South Africa by air only.

Travelers can provide evidence of a negative PCR or antigen test before arrival. If they don’t, travelers will have to take an antigen test on arrival at their own cost. If travelers test positive for COVID-19, the government will enforce a mandatory 10-day quarantine.
