Thoughts on the new app?

How do yall feel about spacehey's new app? is it a good or bad thing?

I'm torn, its 100% going to boost activity here and thats a great thing, making it accsessable to more people who may not have a realible pc/laptop setutup but at the same time doesnt this negate the whole "revive the old web" ideal?

What do yall think?

I like the 200X cell phone aesthetic the app has but there’s no access to the groups or forums. I didn’t even see a feed for bulletins. It really looks like the app is optimized for chatting which would be great if I had someone to chat WITH!

Aside from the missing features, which I would happily wait for, it's definitely great how the app, which also looks like it was taken from the skeuomorphism era (ios6) of user interfaces, isn't particularly centered around anything and is just mainly focused on practicality.

I'm really glad they embraced the Frutiger Aero Aesthetic but it's still missing a ton of functionality and I fear that won't make a great first impression on newcomers.

En realidad me gusta que la app solo sirva para mensajes, aprecio mucho cuando las redes tienen su espacio y su lugar en la computadora y no cuando esta contigo en tu bolsillo 24/7

it's gonna end up being a BIG mistake, I feel it :((

It’s pretty good, easier to make your SpaceHey layout and stuff but there’s no way to access bulletins or groups, which kind of sucks. Also if anyone wants to chat hmu

It definitely takes away the ritual of sitting down at a computer and using the web. its more accessible which is great, but it could become an attention trap on the same level as other apps. i think if it was optimized for just chatting it would be a great addition to the experience. And they really did nail the aesthetic <3 Love to all

personally for me, it helps a lot being a mobile app. i especially like the way it's designed currently with the lack of popups and glossy buttons/icons. i'm looking forward to the new features being added, but i can always use it on a mobile web browser in the meantime.

i'm often too busy with college to sit down at my laptop for long, which is why i like having that option. however, its a nice experience to just sit down at the pc and socialize idly.

for some reason, i seem to be getting issues with notifications... half of the messages people dm me arent notified for some reason. that's the only gripe i really have, but it might just be a me issue.

overall, to me it feels like an old iOS app. still fits within that older theme, as long as marketing doesn't get involved.

i think that as long as the app is always based only only content on the website its good but also hopefully it will at most be like the ff.net app where everyone who uses it understands that its really supposed to be a website. if the app loaded up a little browser to look at all the rest of spacehey thatd be chill

I like it, but it’s got much more to be desired! I understand that it’ll be added soon, so hopefully it doesn’t take too long.

I personally think this was a great creation, it brings friends from all over into one place. And while still keeping it's very retro vibe! I've met some lovely people on here aswell, and have not seen any conflict <3

I'm unhappy about it being a thing. I'm never going to download it. I joined SpaceHey to escape app-based social media platforms, so when An announced that he was going to release a SpaceHey app I felt crushed. I was hoping that the big update he was teasing was going to be the implementation of something MySpace had that SpaceHey currently does not have. I fear that the app will introduce more trolls and other types of problematic people to this site. I believe that this has already been happening. Ever since the SpaceHey app was released, I have noticed an obvious uptick in activity from trolls.

im late to this but im fine with it, its not like the website is accommodating for mobile users over desktop users all of a sudden, and we arent having profile customization restricted to work with mobile phones better at all. spacehey is still very much desktop focused, which is good!

(i DID join after the phone app was made so that might affect my opinion of this, but from what i can tell nothing about the website changed for the app)
