netflix's castlevania was fine, so i'm expecting this to be at least decent... hopefully.

I like the opening, it goes well with Dante in DMC3 imo and i don't really like Dante's design tho, it doesn't really look like him... But it's pretty good to finally have something new about DMC atleast !

I'm kind of perplexed that he basically has Nero's voice, but it makes sense due to the og va's debacle...

I think its gonna be awesome, but i hate that it will bring "new fans" to the fandom and completely ruin the series.

I'm a big fan of the 2007 anime and mangas/books so I'm really happy to see how many references are made to them
I also wonder If the new anime will fit into the canon

I've seen the whole anime when it came out, and as much as the animation and soundtrack is good boy do I have things to say about it
When you're adapting a GAME franchise, I feel like staying loyal to the game itself should be your number one focus, and not making it for a wider audience...because if the wider audience loves the game accurate anime, they will inevitably love the game! But as I was saying...
The anime inherently, doesn't understand a single thing about the history and themes of DMC.
For one, the whole point of Sparda was that he was the ONE and ONLY good demon. All the other demons, that ARE good in the franchise (Trish, Lucia and others..) Are mostly ARTIFICIAL and NOT pure blooded demons, meaning that indeed Sparda was the exception of the rule.
Why this is important? Sparda had the heart of a human. This is something Dante clearly pointed towards in both DMC1 and DMC4, is that Demons, unlike humans, don't have a heart. What demons lack in power when asked by Agnus, IS the lack of a human heart. It's what makes them weaker, what makes them evil. Making yourself a Demon (Such as how Sanctus, Credo, Agnus and Arkham did) makes you truly weaker than what a human could do. It's what also, makes Dante, Vergil and Nero so strong...
Which is why the Netflix anime's potrayal of demons feels so weird, and feels very...out of place for the series, as if it misunderstood the entire themes of the series itself. One of the biggest themes, if not THE biggest theme IS how demons are evil due to their lack of heart, something the anime clearly went against trying to paint humans as bad guys and demons as good guys, which especially felt wrong when it came to Sparda knowing how they made it feel like Sparda was "Evil" for trapping the demons in Makai. (Horrible name by the way, it's literally just demon realm in japanese LOL)
