mine was when i got too excited talking about thresher sharks to a guy and he went quiet...then i went quiet...and then he kinda sat there staring at me before saying "..hahaaa so cool yeah" and then i wanted to cry

ahhhh I feel you also sharks are awesome so shame on the guy for not matching ur energy smh :/
for me the most awkward moments are probably whenever I stay silent bcz Im scared to say something >.< it happens way too much lol

maybe more of a situation than a conversation but.. i remember like a month ago i finally gathered up the curage to ask the two people beside me if they wanted to work on a project in school together. they said yes, so i was relieved, but then not long after, i'm talking like minutes, they forgot i was there and just turned away from me to discuss the project together. while i know i could've probably just made my presence known and that would be that, it genuinely felt gut wrenching :)
it didn't hit me as hard as it would have a year ago, which is nice, but it was still very uncomfortable.

No way. I would've found that convo about sharks interesting... I would've quizzed you a bunch and maybe even ask you about other types of fish. Then I'd probably go silent too. I'm probably processing the info I gained from you or im trying to make a conversational bridge to how your passion relates to mine. It's okay to not be talking all the time hehe
I like octopus! They are smart :D and I like to watch those videos where they solve mazes, puzzles and camouflage! The dumbo octopus is cute. Cuttlefish are interesting although they're not octopus.
I don't know any cool fish facts other than I do like to watch fish move around and exist ✨
I looked up that shark you mentioned. Its big eyes jump scared me
The most awkward convo I ever had is probably at a family get together. The other party would just say "yes and something." and there wouldn't be something interesting else that they would add. No second part/extra info to continue off of
maybe I was just too nervous and my social mask was slowly timing out
