remember gopher? here's a modern cousin

it's called gemini and I just got into it today! it's really unobtrusive compared to today's web - no ads, no popups, no tracking, no autoplay, and much friendlier for slow internet speeds. it's very minimalistic, and you can't embed files, but you can link em! I've seen it used for journaling hosted on flounder, but there are several other applications too (including games!) and it can interface with stuff like the fediverse. the faq I linked has a ton more information and technical details on this protocol; I'm gonna go play around with it now lol
