Is falling in reverse emo? Or just a wannabe?

So theres this artist called falling in reverse and some of his music is half decent however most of it is just hot garbage. Some some people say that hes an emo artist but idk if he would actually be considered emo like MCR or fallout boy let me know guys

Ironically enough? Both.

They are Emo in that they were part of the massive boom of bands back in the 2000s.

And they are poser because Ronnie Radke is a fucking piece of trash.

i'd say that like yeah it's an emo band, it was big in the scene and such, but it also strikes me as kind of a poser band because a. ronnie radke is a piece of shit and b. generally most people who are REALLLYYYYYY into falling in reverse aren't into any other emo bands and tend to be sort of wannabes

So I like FIR but they're honestly not exactly an emo band, they used to have some great songs, but now it's like shit. His music was in decline and some albums like The Dr*g in me is you are good and the songs were recognized by emos when the album came out.

and about ronnie well it is debatable

I’d say the older stuff is. The new songs and albums I’ve listened to sound like 2020s alt trend type music yk?

It depends on what definition of "emo" you're operating under. i'm assuming you mean 2000s pop punk, in which case yeah pretty sure they are, though i don't listen to them enough to be sure. also i'm very aware that ronnie radke sucks, but i'm not sure why everyone here is just assuming you have to be a good person to be emo??

i don't really know about now, but their old original music definitely was. especially when ronnie got out of prison and started making music again, it had the old emo vibes he had in etf. now.... idk

I think it started as being emo, but now it's just "baby's first introduction to the scene" because of Ronnie being absolutely horrible

they're apart of what's considered "mall emo"

I'd honestly put them more in to post hardcore, but at one point the genres were so blurred even bands that were post hardcore were also considered emo (cue bands like Thrice)

"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and
the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing
but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people
try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while
saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe
because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the
pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat
HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct
energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99,
Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest
scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football,
My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE,
POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

I mean there music is definitely emo but Ronnie Radke isn't. The old music was really good but now it's trashy. Definitely fell apart. So I think they use to be emo but the modern music and there beliefs now make them (and most fans) posers.

People tend to label a band as emo based on their own tastes, even though emo is music, encompassing musical characteristics and genres.

For Falling in Reverse to be an emo band, they would have to play emo music, not conform to some absurd characteristic invented by an internet user.

For a band to be emo, it's as simple as playing emo music; there's no further discussion.

Falling in Reverse is an easycore band on their first three albums, a genre that isn't emo because it derives from pop punk and melodic metalcore. Coming Home is a pop punk and alternative rock album, and Popular Monster is an alternative metal album with rap metal influences. It has songs that flirt with metalcore, but nothing outstanding enough to consider it a secondary genre.

Falling in Reverse is NOT an emo band because they don't play emo music.

For example, Armor for Sleep is emo because they play emo-pop, Tears of Avarel is emo because they play emoviolence, Saetia is emo because they play screamo/skramz. Do you understand?
