my first gaming medium was a blue Nintendo DSi that was gifted to me by my stepdad when i first met him in the Philippines. apparently, when i first met my father, i was afraid of him, calling him a "ghost" because he was so pale LOL.
the most memorable game was Super Mario Bros, but i never finished it. i unfortunately don't remember what other games i had.... later i got my first console, the Nintendo 64, where i'd play Diddy Kong Racing, Rampage: World Tour, and GoldenEye007. i had many more games, but tbh, the aforementioned are the only ones i remember. the console was cool as heck too: it was translucent green.
then, i got an Xbox 360 where i'd play COD games, Minecraft, and Destiny with my stepdad. i sniper-shyat on doods in MW2 and AW as i was around ~5 years old LOL. i played so much Minecraft, but i never finished the game legit, but my building skills were sick. (i actually started playing Minecraft on an iPad). i even posted a Minecraft world-tour of my dad and i's creative world, and a tutorial on how to make a block that you can use as a chest via minecarts. i also played so much Destiny, but i was so BADDDD at it. looking back at it now, i was so clueless on how to play the game. i don't even know how i had fun playing Destiny because of how clueless i was....
oouuuu and i also played Halo 2, but i never finished it because it was too difficult, but the PvP was very fun.

what a journey i've had. for starters, i never got a hold of an actual "retro" gaming console. the earliest console my family owned was the ps3 and the xbox 360. to curb my wishes of experiencing an "authentic" retro gaming experience as best as i can with only emulators and a shoestring budget, i've amassed a relatively respectable collection of cheap off-brand retro controllers. the controllers i've owned so far range from nes controllers, snes controllers and even a gamecube controller.
for most people this would obviously be a major red flag since, well, they're cheap off-brand controllers, but here's the thing, they have usb ports... and that's it.
i've never owned or felt a real, authentic controller before, so i can't really say much on quality or feel. they feel alright, i guess. all i know is i got what i bargained for, and it works pretty well, they've stood the test of time for me and i've gotten pretty far with these controllers since buying them, and i plan to scour the internet for more of these controllers to explore even more consoles.
maybe one day i'll get an actual console, but it's up in the air since i can't find a good place to put it in.

My first console was a Wii I think, but my favorite console as kid was my parent's old N64, I used to play the hell out of old mariokart 64 and Goldeneye 007. I still have it sitting in my room somewhere, I should see if it still works.

My first was technically the game Boy advanced, but I don't start caring about consoles until the Nintendo Wii/U.
So I would say the Wii consoles were my first.

Yep! Here I am! And I'm happy to see we are quite a few on here!
My first one was the Sega Master System II. Well, it was my mom's tbh, I'm not that old. But It was the first I ever played on!
My own very first console was the PS2, and it's still my favorite to that day! I dream of achieving a fullset (EU games only, I'm not that crazy lol) but I'm still far from it.

I had a PS2 growing up, Got to play the OG god of war, pretty cool NGL getting to play something graphic after only playing mario fan games your entire life
other notable games I've played were spongebob battle for bikini bottom, sled storm, prince of persia sands of time, COD world at war final fronts
Honestly the PS2 is what got me into retro gaming and I continue to play older titles to this day albeit on my XBox
(I broke the PS2)

i was born in the 2000s but i had a lot of older siblings.
basically whenever a new console would come out my parents would buy it for them and they would play with me but they left the consoles after they moved out.
we had a generation of retro gaming consoles growing up because of my older siblings. we had an atari and the game mat and the duck hunt/golden eye gun and everything!!
my favorite was the dream cast because of sonic and jet set radio. i also loved playing parrappa and final fantasy on the ps2 (yes thats retro now lol)
but soon i was an older sibling too and i would get to share other consoles with them like the game cube and original ds and game boy color and the n64. we would play donkey kong together and mario cart and melee a lot.
i moved out which means i left all of those consoles behind for my ltitle siblings including out xbox and wii and stuff. so that means i dont have my original copies of skyward sword or epic mickey anymore but finally we got them to port!!!
our city has a huge flee market where people sell retro gaming sets so hopefully ill make a good find someday. i grew up really loving retro games and im glad i have someplace to talk about them >:3
