Embrace, The Hated, Moss Icon and Rites Of Spring are really cool 80s emo bands
Bratmobile, Petrol girls and Lunachicks are sick female fronted bands
Also Primus is kinda like nu-metal it's more like funk metal but so good

some female/enby fronted recent 5th wave emo i like are pinkshift, sweet pill, retirement party, crying and insignificant other.
Save face is a notable 3rd wave emo sounding band of recent. I also really like the blood brothers and seeyouspacecowboy which are sometimes described as sasscore (a subgenre of screamo). for older emo i really love Cursive; the first half of The Ugly Organ is a masterpiece to me.
