Are my parents overly strict or am I crazy?

I don’t know if anyone else’s parents do this but in the past 3 years my parents have been restricting my online access more and more and it’s kind of making me feel terrible.

They’ve been putting longer and longer timers on my apps (the timer immediately blocks the app your using after a certain amount of time) and they’ve been literally blocking websites, like, I can’t access some websites at all. And it’s not bad websites like malware and only fans, it’s things like Pinterest and character ai.

Idk I’ve just been feeling down in the dumps about it, like it’s pointless to stand up to myself again because it’ll just get worse. And I feel like I’m being over dramatic and it’s my fault. And I know my parents are just trying to protect me, but nothing will happen if they unblock things! It’s not like an ai is going to groom me or predators will text me on Pinterest. I just feel like it’s really silly but I can’t say anything about it because my parents are too stubborn and I’m scared of saying anything

And that’s not even the start of my problems.

But idk, am I being overdramatic?

Yea chances are they are trying to protect you. There's a lot of shit on the internet. A lot of influence too even in basic things. You could ask them.

The things I said, saw, watched, browsed, and did online when I was 11 are still actively affecting my habits and thought processes as an adult 12 years later.

I think that your parents have very real concerns about the Internet, it's contents, it's usage, and more specifically - what you might be being exposed to while online.

Had my parents stepped in when I was a kid and restricted my access to the Internet (further than they already had) - I would've been saved of some negative experiences and brain rot that I've been trying to recover from - but in an era where everyone is online, everyone is forced to be online, and the Internet and social media at large is inescapable - there's only so long that they can keep it up without the digital world slipping through the cracks.

I suppose they aren't crazy - at least not to me and all the rest of the old geezers who've seen the shit the Internet is capable of producing.

I suppose I should word it like this, assume that you, down the line a ways, became a parent - then assume that your child had access to the Internet from a young age - and then assume that you (as an adult, and as a parent) were regaled with stories of the ever growing "dark side of the web", where nefarious ne'er-do-wells take it upon themselves to cut the childhoods of underage inhabitants of the Internet short through spreading vile and blood curdling acts and media - imagine what a parent would be scared of that doing to their kid.

Now, do you still think they're crazy?
