For me it's a split decision between Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park because Hybrid Theory and Meteora are both near flawless albums, Limp Bizkit because they're just fun to listen to and have some of the grooviest and tightest songs the genre ever produced

soulfly because they transcend nu metal and are an all around insanely good and talented band
korn because their first 2 albums are some of the greatest work the world has ever seen and those 2 recordings created, set the bar, and was never topped for an entire genre of music
in my humble opinion ofc
i grew out of nu metal idrc about it anymore as i mostly listen to hardcore but soulfly and korn always stuck as super strong bands that ill never lose my respect for

SOAD is by far my favorite. They were super heavy, but also managed to maintain great hooks, all the while discussing controversial/political topics. Every member is a musical miracle worker, and their music has aged like a fine wine.

Korn!!!! Though I'm still new to Nu Metal so I haven't got too much to compare to them just yet!!!
