There's a really great avant-garde album from the early 00s by a group named Reaching Quiet. Despite it being mostly singing / rapping, it's also some of the greatest introspective poetry I know - bits of it are ironic, there's lots of witty one liners, but occasionally there are just moments of poetic genius.

You should read the lyrics to the tracks Slow Polaroid and You Choke - the first being a retrospective on an old relationship, and You Choke being a critique of modern consumerist culture.
