I hate how Twitter bacame a place for arguing

i just deleted my twitter bc i cant find memes, silly cat posting or anything anymore. And i really try to have a non toxic twitter timeline, but seems impossible. i open twitter and there is someone THAT I DONT KNOW arguing about *something that i dont know* with people that i DONT KNOW. I dont know if the twitter algorithm is the owrse of internet but ???. I have headaches everytime i open this app T-T, and if you're brazillian you know how brazillian people argue about NOTHINg especially in social medias.

anyway, someone is tired about twitter too?

// got it out of my system

I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would ever look at anything except the Following tab on Twitter.

It feels like even if you only ever followed your friends and super niche blogs, you'd still somehow have a bunch of toxic stuff pop up in your TL or you'd randomly get recommended posts in your notifications. I could never really figure out how you were supposed to curate anything over there :/

Unlike old forums dedicated to a hobby or scene, on twitter people can talk about anything, and the only prerequisite for gaining attention is to open your mouth (type a sentence) and get a reaction, naturally saying things that get the strongest most emotional reactions becomes the way everyone talks on twitter.

Everything people say sounds the same. If you make one comment it can be blown up by thousands of users so people tend to just make the same arguments on all sides. If they begin to change on one or two issues their own followers on their side will attack them, so everyone basically just screams for their team.

Even when you aren't someone who spends time arguing and engaging in drama on twitter, the short post length gradually trains people to speak in little bird speech. Eventually it even makes users think like little birds.

Whenever I have to go on twitter for an actual reason, it doesn't take me long to feel disgusted with the world. It's not even to do with people's opinions or extreme things they say, it's the shallowness. I find myself getting shallow just looking at it; everything is either shocking and vulgar, or sickeningly genteel and twee on the big sites; there's no in between.

The only reason I still have Twitter is due to the small community tags I form part of and makes it a bit entertaining with the polls and all that stuff. I miss old random twitter with dark humor asf and all that stuff

The hatred and valence is what got me to stay off twitter and finally delete reddit. Ill gladly use reddit as a knowledge resource but i will not have the app on my phone. just videos of people fighting and the comments being racist and flat out stupid. this anger bait is out of control mane

While Elon Muskrat made it worse, it was always, at least a little bit, like that. It's sad, but outrage lead to interactions, and interactions lead to profit, so the angrier the users the wealthier the company.

I deactivated my twitter account today. it's strange that a social media makes me sad, only the bluebird managed to do that.

In many ways it feels like it's just designed to make you feel sick as apparently that's the ideal way to keep you more engaged and show you more ads

It absolutely sucks, but I feel like that's ultimately the reason why they keep doubling down on the toxic side of it

It truly brings the worst out of everyone :/
