basically, im trying to make a landing page for my neocities site, and its an image of a house. i want to hide a button (or maybe just a link to the "living room"/home page?) about where the front door is.

if thats too impossible to do, then just having the entire house itself as a button is cool too, but i ripped the house image from a vintage advertisement. which is a watercolor. which has jagged, splotchy edges. and when i try to make the image itself a button, it adds this ugly ass border around the entire image. so instead of a watercolour house on top of a background, its a watercolor house, in a white box, on the site background. and if i try to make the button hidden, it hides the entire house image.

if this sounds like a stupid question its because im a moron but i just CANNOT figure it out wth!!!!

Try reading up on image maps. They're complicated, but it sounds like what you're looking for.
