howdy  - feels cool and weird to find this site today, seems like a lot of folks came and went in the last year.

what are some other online spaces you have nostalgia for? or is this your first time experiencing this type of online space?

personally, i'd give anything to get back online at the-n.com forums with my lil avatar :(

for me it was this forum site called VocaloidOtaku back then around 2014 (I know it sounds cringey) when I was 13-14 yrs old and it was about, well, vocaloids and anime but mostly vocaloid and people who make music using vocaloid. It was a forum much like spacehey, I remember visiting the site everyday, posting and responding to comments and making new friends.

2018(?) comes and eventually they had to shut it down the site because it wasn't gaining traffic as much as it used to before. I already left the site long before it shut down (around 2017) but I still was sad when I heard of the news.

I still visit the site from time to time using wayback machine for nostalgia, I even see my old posts there and the userbars I made for fanclubs.

I sometimes remember Quizzilla existed and I miss it. I was apparently late so it as people told before it had much more personal customization to it before it got bought out. But I still had fun there, it was full of weebs, geeks, and emos, my kind of people. Guessed from the name you could make quizzes there along with polls and stories. Met a lot of nice and fun peopel there.

I miss xat.com, I don't know if anyone here knows about it.

It's still there but no one uses it anymore and I miss those moments when I made good long-distance friendships, I wish I'd kept in touch. :<

and just in that period also visited many blogs about anime but I don't remember the names.

This is my first ever experience that's like this because I didn't have readily available internet access at home until 2009 but... There's other websites I used to visit back then that I miss that I haven't had access to for years because those websites are no longer up today. There was one in particular I liked that went inactive in 2011 and when I looked back at it a few years later the domain had expired. So sad

I never was active on MySpace or anything like that so I never got to experience that. I'm enjoying getting to experience that now with places like this

feels like the death of flash and forums really fucked the internet over in a big way - i've been also getting super into youtube vids about online worlds from the late aughts centered at childeren/teens (the-n, barbiegirls, habbo hotel, postopia, etc) that were promotional but not powered by memberships.

sometimes it feels like this era of late stage capitalism really fucked over people just having a good time online lol.

Wow the habbo hotel thing is a blast from the past- I don't remember when it was but I remember seeing an ad for it popping up somewhere so I wanted to try it. Think I only played it like twice and then never touched it again. Haven't thought about that in years
