Hey! thought i'd start a topic about the inbetweens of rock/post punk/punk/alt/grunge - whatever really.
There's a lot of super great artists or tracks out there that aren't exactly 'obscure' but rather have more than likely just been washed out by the spotify algorithm or something. I often use a walkman so I enjoy the ability to hear the back to front of tapes and discover new tracks from compilations or even just albums I thought I knew, it gives a new light to them - I guess the same goes for vinyl. I dont think modern music apps are very good for deep diving, but thats a whole different rant.
I think a lot of older bands portray really good queer & neurotypical energy/themes/imagery - I've been trying to write about this a whole lot!! acts like roxy music, velvet underground, patti smith etc - theres a lot to do with gender imagery and raw emotion. definitely worth delving into.
anyhooooo - I guess this is mainly about 60s/70s/80s weirdo peotry rambly jingly jangly rock, thats mostly where my taste is rooted i think... (around then, no rules at all
- any decade is fine)
Here are some tracks I love just now, please feel free to share yours!
directly from my heart to you - mothers of invention
sugar on my tongue - talking heads
