Before you lose your shit, let me elaborate:
Yes, HIM probably outsell more than half of your underrated bands combined. Yes, they were generally welcomed by the pop market in their time. Still, most actual goths spit at their faces for not being "real goth" or "goth enough".
The usual criticism go to either sounding too commercial, being more of a metal band or being the babybat's first goth band. While I somewhat agree with the criticism, Ville had a deep understanding of the genre and you can hear the influences all over his material if you actually use your ears a bit.
