one of, if not, my favorite bands ever are the violent femmes. they're considered 'folk punk' i believe, but they're more just generally alt-rock. very cool band.

I really really love crywank! they're a indie folk-punk band and I've loving their music since 2009, they're also super chill people and the community is really cool! my song rec is definitely Now I'm Sad (boohoo) or privately owned spiral galaxy.
Oh and lovejoy is another great band!
