Ballad for Sophie is a really sweet graphic novel with gorgeous artwork, i really recommend it. If you're into superhero stuff then Watchmen is a must (it gets pretty heavy at times) and if you like stuff more horror-oriented then the Immortal Hulk run is really good (not technically a graphic novel but eh, close enough).
