Summer of '86 by ConsisciousThoughts and Under Two Palms is such an underrated gem.

It's interesting to see the subtle split between the pioneering "chopped n' screwed RnB" strain of vaporwave/mallsoft, and the more recent manifestations of vaporwave that's slowly shifting into musical territory unheard of, taking on ambient, dancefloor, or even more haunted dungeoneer permutations.

It's what atmospheric black metal would sound like if guitars had never been invented. But seriously though, this has to be one one of the most surprising "post-vaporwave" albums I've stumbled across. Imagine an alternative reality where Dick Rowe's assertion that "guitar groups are on their way out" came to pass, and that as a consequence metal music never developed and evolved into the multiheaded monster it is today. The same moody musical outcasts who promulgated black metal may have instead turned to the medium of computer generated music. Their output may have, in all seriousness, sounded something like this.

I love the album "You are already dead" by Phoenix #2772. It follows the theme of 80's slasher movies from it's cover art to song titles. A treat for the ears if you love the sound of relaxed saxophone serenades from start to finish.

If I had to pick one that wasn't a series like Virtual Dream Plaza, I'd probably pick telepath's Beyond Reality (現実 お 超えて) as my favourite vaporwave album of all time. It's so engrossing and really sensual, I've slept to it countless times. The beats on the tracks are phenomenal too, with my favourite probably being the second track, titled "your world" (あなたの世界). I feel like I've memorised all the lyrics to it LOL
