Opinion: Which is more fascinating to explore, outer space or the deep ocean?

Both of these pursuits offer extraordinary insights into our universe whether near or far. While I find myself more drawn to the stars, I’m curious to know: which of the two do you all think is more fascinating?

the ocean because i feel like it'll be  more interesting and we haven't fully explored it yet we know what the planets look like is questionable.

As a Marine Biology major who's planning on minoring in Astronomy, I combat you with both.

i'd say that, given the technology we have today, the ocean is way cooler to explore because we can see so much more, just in terms of living flora and fauna that glows and moves, and like, see-through alienlike creatures. Since we can actually use cameras that are high quality and see quick results, we can quickly and consistently discover new sick-ass freaky little monsters and for that reason i rest my case.

I wouldn't even know. The ocean could have like some undiscovered creature that could be really cool, but then space could have another planet with life. I mean there definitely has to be life in space somewhere other than earth? So yeah both? i cant choose aaaaaaaaaaaaaa

It's a hard question. I love space and the deep sea, I love the deep, dark mysteries and the unknown of both. However, we have currently searched and explored more of space than our ocean, which is on our planet.

I feel like we should continue to explore space, but we should focus a bit more on what's on our planet first.

I think we should understand all of our planet before we go looking to understand others.

Space is forever changing, we will never know everything about it. and although our oceans change they don't as vastly as space does. We should explore what will remain mostly the same first. Plus we should save the oceans and we can't do that if we don't know what we're saving.

Ok, since no has said outer space then I will!! Think about the enormous vastness of space. On average, each star hosts 1 planet. In each galaxy, there are ~100 billion stars, and there are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe. Think about how many planets are out there that could potentially host life, and have their own oceans! If you explore outer space thoroughly enough, then you will find many deep seas. Not to mention all of the other incredible phenomena that play out on such enormous scales. Stars explode and outshine their entire galaxy! Objects are so massive that they warp our perceptions of time and space! Most of the matter in our universe is of a nature unknown to us! Space is amazing.

i find both to be extremely interesting and it's very hard to pick one but if i had to choose, i'd pick outer space. there's just so many galaxies (estimated 2 trillion to 6-20 trillion), planets (our 8 planets and the many other planets/exoplanets), etc out there, especially ones that we haven't discovered, and the thought of asteroids and meteorites hitting earth is absolutely insane and intriguing. plus the amount of progress we've made on space discovery and the fact alone that we can go to space is insane and intriguing. there's so much we haven't discovered it's absolutely insane

I am so uneducated on this topics I probably shouldnt even try to give an opinion but whatever.

Outter space I think, not only im interested in astronomy but I also think it is humanitys best interest to study it so when the time comes for the sun to leave us we have an escape plan.

however I love earth's nature and I would love to know more about the deep ocean.
