Hard of hearing Kyojuro modern AU where he needs hearing aids and knows how to sign x Akaza who learned to sign just for Kyojuro cuz he wanted to talk to him but didnt know how to strike a conversation. They both were in the same minor in college
When they did start talking during a class they shared, they had a tough friendship at first since Akaza is a delinquent who always got into fights, and Kyojuro doesnt want to get involved in that. Akaza tried to hang out more with Kyojuro instead of his old friend group, so that Kyojuro would appreciate him more and try to talk to him more, especially in sign (he wants to impress him)
Kyojuro the type of mf to take out his hearing aids and close his eyes when Akaza first talked to him, and he has his signature smile on while doing that, but after some time, Kyojuro was like "fine, I'll talk to you", still with his signature smile.
Akaza has tried to convince Kyojuro to become a delinquent a few times because sure, he hangs out with his friends still, but he also wants to be with Kyojuro, so Akaza was pretty split between the two. But he failed every time he offered, so eventually he just gave up and delt with his split.
Bonus points: Akaza works at Dunkin as a part time job to support his college funds, has been working there since his senior year of high school, and Kyojuro goes there every once in a while cuz this man needs his dragon fruit refresher in the mornings, Kyojuro does not believe in caffeine. Now, the problem is, Kyojuro is a loud talker due to his hard of hearing, and now Zenitsu also works at Dunkin as a side job, and Zenitsu has very VERY sensitive ears. Akaza knows this and is like "yeah, no, I'm not gonna deal with the child screaming cuz of a yelling partially deaf man" so he signs to Kyojuro instead.
The two ended up becoming closer since Akaza is the only one who could sign in the staff during that shift, and eventually Kyojuro talks more with Akaza because now he knows that someone else knows how to sign, and its someone in his college too. They hang out more and more and eventually they start dating
