It seems like now days it's harder to go down one, so that's why am I asking! I remember I would use to go down the weirdest topics on a single afternoon...

oh god, the dead internet theory... that's a thing alright... it's important to say, the anon of the original text is maybe 20% accurate here (please consider: this doesn't automatically validate the 80% of total bullshit).

it's also very evident that anon thinks 4chan is a lot bigger than it actually is. like greenland in the mercator projection. lists it first when describing "popular sites" etc, there are a lot of examples of this

and don't get me started on the batshit insane pgph beginning with "- Innocent sexual peversion and the horrible reality it spawned"

Possible solutions may be increased reliance on encrypted peer-to-peer communication software, or using less centralised networks like the idea of a p2p internet or 'meshnet'.

i like this though.

The only internet rabbithole I can think of is the 2chan thread of the Denko guy.

You should check out some of the sites people have made on neocities. I fell down a rabbithole for an entire afternoon looking through this one person's site that was essentially a shrine to these unnerving dolls they make. Hundred of pictures with paragraphs of text accompanying them. Every doll had a name and a background, many of which were deeply interconnected. It was like getting a glimpse into an entire new reality. The site is clearly a labor of obsessive love for these things. Simultaneously the coolest and most unhinged thing I've ever come across. I wish I had that level of devotion for literally anything.
